16 years+, have been sexually assaulted at any point in their lives, or friends or family members of sexual assault survivors
Has not sexually offended as an adult (16+)
There is nothing in our intake process that clients are required to answer to be eligible for service, except to confirm that they have not themselves sexually offended as an adult (over 16 years of age). We use a standard intake form to gather background and pertinent information but every counsellor works with individuals from a client led, consent-based approach.
Clients are most welcome to ask their counsellor questions that are appropriate to determine their comfort level and compatibility.
Our clinical case notes are meant to record client’s attendance at appointments, but beyond that we offer clients a choice as to what is recorded in our case notes.
Confidentiality and Duty to Report for online chat support https://www.sascwr.org/onlinechat.html
This also appears with further details at the end of the Intake Form.
When someone becomes a client, one of the forms they will receive provides the contact information/options for reaching the Manager of Services, if they need to discuss a problem they cannot address with their counsellor.

“We have a small and significant number of transgender and nonbinary identifying clients. As an organization we work to ensure that all people feel seen and respected, including but not limited to respecting everyone’s pronouns and offering an accessible/all gender washroom. SASC staff are actively supportive of transgender and non-binary folks and work to build understanding of how we can support people in the best ways possible.; Being transgender friendly is very important to our Centre and reflects the Core Values of our organization.”
Many of our counsellors are MSW’s, RSW’s and trained in EMDR
